Adyson & Everly’s Newborn Session
My very first newborn photography session with, you guessed it, twins! Double the babies, double the work, but a million times the cuteness! Adyson and Everly are every photographer’s dream. They are identical twin girls with vibrant personalities. The girls came a bit early and had to stay in the NICU for a few weeks, which is, of course, completely normal. When they finally came to their home in Union, New Jersey, I was bursting with excitement in anticipation before I had the privilege of photographing these little models.
The second I stepped into the nursery, I was immediately inspired. The girls’ mom, Sonia, decorated it beautifully. The neutral tones and eucalyptus accents perfectly matched my style of photography. Sonia left the outfits and setup entirely up to me. I knew instantly that my vision would coincide flawlessly with the aesthetic of the nursery. I chose to mix and match the colors for each of the girls for a cohesive color palette while still ensuring that each twin’s personal identity and personality would shine through. I started with one of the little angels in pink and cream and the other in beige and ivory. Each girl got their own tiny teddy bear prop to compliment the tone of their swaddle.
Next, I had to incorporate some milk drunk cuddles with these two. Nothing says milk drunk baby like a droopy white hat cascading from her little head. The essence of these shots really captures the unbreakable bond the girls will have for the rest of their lives. Twin sisters are built in best friends and that’s the relationship I wanted to encapsulate between these sleepy princesses. They were completely at peace…even with Adyson sleeping on her sister’s bottom.
It’s true what they say, it really does take a village. Every member of the family had a helping hand in this shoot and got to take part in creating these precious pictures. But the MVP of the day was Adyson and Everly’s brother, Landon. He stood by their side and watched over the process the entire time. I think they may even have a future photographer in the family because Landon documented the whole session by taking behind the scenes photos with his iPad! Now I know who to hire as an assistant in a few years.
When it was his time to join his sisters for a few adorable shots, Landon was so brave and strong, holding his best friends in each arm. For this portion of the shoot I had the girls in ivory and sage green mix and match swaddles and hair bows. The best part had to be when I showed him a quick glimpse of the photos I captured. He got so emotional that his mom had to wipe a few tears from his eyes! He is sensitive and protective: every girl’s dream big brother! They are beyond lucky to have a brother who clearly loves them with all his heart.
