Camilla’s Newborn Session
On Valentine’s Day, I had the pleasure of doing Camilla’s newborn session in Freehold, New Jersey. I can’t think of a sweeter way to spend a day devoted to the celebration of love. Right from the start, Camilla was hands down one of the most peaceful and angelic baby girls I have ever photographed. Her mom fed her right before I arrived so she was already very sleepy and calm. The noise machine I bring along to all my sessions instantly soothed her and she slept the entire time.
While I was getting everything set up, Camilla’s parents, Stephanie and Mike, told me the story of the night she was born and it was one for books, or in this case, for the blog! Her mom was in the middle of taking a class on water breaking when her water broke during the class! They had to rush to the hospital during the worst snow storm we’ve seen all winter here in New Jersey. Not the most ideal weather to be driving in, but baby Camilla was ready to enter the world and, of course, they couldn’t be happier that she’s here. Her birth definitely makes for an amazing story.
Though tiny and sweet little Camilla was undeniably the star of this shoot, there was another contender who loved the spotlight. Their adorable little pug Zehla was very involved in our session. She sat with her mom watching over the whole process and protecting her new baby sister. Then she scurried upstairs with us to make sure she didn’t miss a second of the family photos. She even managed to sit perfectly for a few shots alone with Camilla and they couldn’t be any cuter! The nursery was decorated flawlessly with neutral colors, an olive tree, and personalized wall décor. With natural light coming in from the window, it was the prime spot for photographing this gorgeous family.
