What to Wear to Your Photoshoot

My main mission when capturing a session is to ensure that the images remain timeless! Your choice of outfit plays an important role in ensuring that your photos age beautifully. From engagement to newborn, maternity to family, this is your comprehensive guide for photoshoot attire!

What to Wear:

1.     Solid color neutrals are your best friends! Light colors and earthy tones will make for a clean, crisp, and put together look. In addition, muted pastels are perfect for adding color without being too loud.

2.     Something comfortable and true to who you are. You want to feel like your most authentic self in your images and your outfits should reflect that! Take these guidelines with a grain of salt because, ultimately, you want to be you!

What Not to Wear:

1.     Bold prints and patterns can be distracting. You want to compliment your surroundings rather than compete with them!

2.     Trendy or branded pieces. Trends and popular logos come and go, but you want your images to be ageless!

Tips!

1.     Pinterest is your savior when it comes to inspiration! Make a Pinterest board of outfit ideas to get started. It’ll give you a better idea of how certain looks will photograph and coordinate with your surroundings. Feel free to look through my Instagram for more brainstorming or ask me to send you some sample galleries to browse!

2.     Contrast colors! You and your spouse don’t necessarily have to wear matching outfits to look coordinated. For example, if you’re wearing a white dress, have your partner wear a blue shirt. This way, you stand out in the photos.

3.     Time to splurge! A photoshoot is a special occasion and a great chance to go the extra mile. Buy a new dress, get your makeup and nails done, etc. When you feel good, you look good!

4.     Outfit change! You can always switch it up halfway through the session. For example, one more sophisticated/special outfit and one more on the casual side. This way, you don’t have to step entirely out of your comfort zone and can basically get two sessions in one!
