Katie & Shane Engagement Session
Katie and Shane’s September beach wedding was such a sweet and special day. Considering there was a giant live pig involved at one point, I’d say it was a unique and memorable day for me personally! For groom prep, the guys rented out an Airbnb that was home to a real life big black pig. Shane said he had to be different in some way and he definitely succeeded!
The Jersey Shore was our home base for the entire day. We started at Katie’s parents’ house in Lavallette, New Jersey just a few blocks away from the beach. Then, their ceremony took place at a nearby gazebo as the altar, which is such a cute and personal location! The reception was held at Park Pavilion in Seaside Park, New Jersey. This spot gave us the opportunity to sneak away to the beach at sunset and take some portraits right on the sand. The Shore means a lot to both Katie and Shane, as they spend most of the summer there and wanted to stay local to it.
Katie did a first look with her bridesmaids as well as another with her dad. All of their reactions were equally priceless. Everyone had tears in their eyes and it was apparent that they were so genuinely happy to be part of this celebration of love. I always recommend doing a first look, whether it be with your partner, friends, or family!
The tiny attention to detail that couples put into their wedding days is one of my favorite elements to capture. The small date embroidered on the inside of Shane’s shirt, the matching Vans sneakers worn by the entire bridal party, and the cohesive color story matching Shane’s outfit to Katie’s bouquet.
Katie told me she always knew she wanted a white gold band with a round solitaire diamond for her engagement ring. When Shane asked her friends for advice on which ring to get, they accidentally through him off by analyzing her Instagram likes. Little did they know, she was liking the pictures for the nail designs, not the rings in said pictures. Luckily, Shane’s instincts kicked in and he went with his gut, ultimately picking out the perfect ring that she wanted all along.
